Hedeby coins were the first Nordic coins, which were struck at the beginning of the 8th century in the Viking town of Hedeby in southern Jutland. Most Hedeby coins are struck on one side only and imitate the Frankish coins from Dorestad. They are also called semi-bractate. From the year 900 and 100 years onwards, Hedeby has had a constant development. The minting of the coins also gained traction in Birka and other Nordic trading towns. (Wiki)

The original coin was found on the Swedish peninsula Birka approx. year 825 and is today at the National Museum in Copenhagen.
